When I was in WGST 120 my first semester at college, a girl in my class discussed her intense childhood fear of this Power Puff Girls character, Mojo Jojo, in a zine she wrote. She realized that her fear was exacerbated by Mojo Jojo’s depiction as a cross-dresser or trans* person. He is devilish in appearance and he is the arch nemesis of the Power Puff Girls. 

My classmate went on to discuss images of trans* people in media, including the “evil” versus “comic relief” tropes that often represent them. Either a gender variant person is some sort of devil, or they are just so fucking hilarious because they can’t pass and therefore become “pathetic”. 

Wonderful analysis, but uh, as a lifelong Powerpuffer? I have to correct you and let you know that this is Him. Not Mojo Jojo. Mojo Jojo is a green ape with a glass case over the brain.

I’m sort of over looking at media but I just want to say that as a trans person (although not femme ID’ed) I LOVE Him. As a kid I loved Him. They are a badass fucking up the system and gender norms. Can’t hate that. Let’s talk about what the Powderpuff Girls represent. Lackies for the state? I think so.
